NEW THIS YEAR!
Southwest Harbor Week - Celebrate the Quietside of Acadia is our new, ten-day festival, celebrating the wonderful diversity of the Quietside. Each day from Oktoberfest to the Marathon will have a theme that connects to an institution on the Quietside. For example, the Day of Birds will feature events at the Wendell Gilley Museum along with guided birding tours by Downeast Nature Tours. The Day of Rocks will feature events at the Granite Museum along with a tour of a quarry and a geology walk with Duane and Ruth Braun. The evening will feature a rock concert.

The Crown Vics
On the Village Green, 5-7PM
The Crown Vics tap into a tradition established by Carl Perkins, Patsy Cline, and The Beatles. It’s that spirit, the combination of attitude and styles, affability, and desire to go all in, that makes The Crown Vics such a fun and vibrant live act and their show a full-tilt non-stop dance riot that puts a smile on the face of music lovers of all ages.
Friday afternoon, on the Pemetic School Lawn
The Farming Artists will be back once more to dazzle you with their pumpkin carving demonstration! The Farming Artists is a cooperatively organized collaboration of artists, farmers, and visionaries. Our intention is to celebrate and bring awareness to the importance of community life and living in resonance with the natural rhythms of our world. In this spirit we offer a space and an opportunity for individuals to come together to learn and share their talents and visions.

Island Arts Associations 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Craft Fair
10AM to 3PM on the Pemetic School Lawn
The Island Arts Association was formed in 1975 by a group of Mount Desert Island artisans, with the idea of promoting individual local craftspeople by hosting group shows. Many artists work alone in their studios, and these shows provide camaraderie, marketing ideas and exposure to new customers. Fair fees are kept low to encourage those just starting out. The IAA is hosted by the YWCA of MDI, whose mission includes empowering women through business opportunities.
We hold craft fairs on Mount Desert Island which are open to our members & other artisans. To become a member you must live on Mount Desert Island, or one of the outer islands.
